HAWKE CUP

[Per United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, January 3. The New Zealand Cricket Council advised the Southland Cricket Association to-day that the Hawke Cup match between Manawatu and Southland would begin on January 10. It is felt lore that the notice is rather short, as the team will have to leave on Wednesday, and the M.C.C; match will; not be finished till Alpuday. For this reason it may not be possible to get the strongest side away on Wednesday. A meeting of the executive of the Southland Cricket Association will be held as soon as possible to consider the matter*
