BABY'S AMAZING ESCAPE

Three women, standing apart from the Saturday night shopping crowds, stood talking round a perambulator in Brentford, Middlesex. A baby, deaf to the bustle around it, slept soundly in the pram. Suddenly there was a screech of brakes, a whine from skidding tyres, and screams. A trolley-bus had collided with an ambulance only a few feet from where they stood. < Before Jt he women could move the bus mounted the pavement and headed straight for the little group round the perambulator. In a second it was on them.

Crowds surged up. The trolley-bus was hauled back from the three silent figures on the pavement. The baby in the pram received the first attention. It was unharmed.

The three women, Airs Alary Wyatt, of Town Aleadow, Brentford, Alary Cole, of the same address, and Agnes Bcwlay, of Pump Alley, were taken to West Aliddlcscx Hospital in the ambulance involved in the collision. > They subsequently recovered from their injuries.
