YOUNG WOMAN ASSAULTED
AN AGGRESSIVE “ ADMIRER " [Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, December 13. The story that a young woman had been visited in her home by a man with whom she had been keeping company and had been heavily punched about the face was upheld by Mr W. P. Stilwell, S.M., in convicting the accused and fining him £3 .10s with cost" in default seven days’ imprisonment. Ho was James Bradcock. The woman was separated from her husband and lived as a domestic. ■ Th" assault was denied, but the magistrate accepted the story of the cornplainant and witnesses, despite counsel’s plea that it was concocted for tho purpose of venting spleen upon the. defendant.
