(From Our Own Correspondent.) The past week has been very hot, and after the colder and wet weather phenomenal growth in tomatoes and all garden- truck' is being experienced. Rain has threatened on a number of occasions, but nothing more than a few spots has been experienced, hardily sufficient to interfere with hay-making and shearing, both of which are now in full swing. November has been regarded as somewhat of a record for the district in the way of rainfall, no less than a total of 185 points having been registered for the month. The rain gauge at Ripponvale kept by Mr A. O. Bridgman registered falls as follows: November 3, 30 points; November 5, 6 points; November 9, 15 points; November 11, 53 points; November 17, 10 points; November 18 and 19, 62 points; November 23, 9 points. HEALTH CAMP. The Cromwell Health Stamp Campaign Committee advises having secured a total of £44 8s 6d towards the funds of the children’s health camps, the amount having been obtained by a carnival and dances (£4l 2s 6d) and donations (£3 6s), and an alluvial gold art union is expected to augment the sum. BRIDGE AT LOWBURN. Tenders for the building of a bridge over the Clutha at Lowburn Ferry are expected to be called for immediately on the return of the plans, which have been sent by the county engineer (Mr E. W. George) to the Public Works Department. BOWLING. The Cromwell Club on Saturday played two sections from Roxburgh and 1 one from Millers Flat, winning all matches and scoring a full 12 points. Against Roxburgh scores were (Cromwell players noted first) : —Fletcher, Cahill, W. Jolley, Smith 27, Laloli, Hammond, Burton, Crossan 15; L. Jelley, Hoskings, A. Stephens, E. Jolly 26, Gilchrist, George, Henderson, Craig 23; Grant, B. Stumbles, Holden, Nicol 22, Grant, Stevenson, Manuel, Toms 13; E. Jelley, Cox, G. Stumbles, sen., Wilkinson 24, M'Kinnell, Pinder, Alexander, Dun!ay 21. And against Millers Flat: Gibb, Thomas, G. Stumbles, Dr Austin 25, Thompson, M'Tague, White, Campbell 19; Pollock, Vient, Storey, L. Jolly 19, Bowden, M'Rae, Stuart, Ferguson 16. RIFLE CLUB. A club match, Mr W. Vient’s team v. Mr J. C. Parcel's team, resulted in a good win for the secretary’s (Mr W. Vient) team by 311 points to 298. Scores were:—Secretary’s team: W. Vient 88, A. Bell 86, E. Lawrence 76, N. Toms 61. Mr Paroell’s team: J. C. Parcel! 80, V. Parcell 72, J. Jocelyn 72, M. Jolly 70. On Saturday a Cairnmuir Cup shoot was fired, 10 shots at 300yds, 500yds, and 600yds. A changing light with varying light wind did not assist. Scores were:—J. C. Parcell. 44, 45, 46 —135; W. Vient, 44. 44. 42—130; A, Kev, 34, 45, 39—118; E. Lawrence, 39,“ 36 . 35—110; J.
