(Received December 7, at 1.5 p.m.) Hundreds of home-made Christmas puddings were discovered to be made i from brown sugar containing sand. A shipload of sugar imported ; from the Barhadoes specially for puddings was retailed.. No suspicion was raised l until housewives complained of the gritty taste. An examination revealed that the sugar was not only gritty, but peppery and pebbley. Grocers are offering to refund the cost of the puddings. Native sabotage at the port of embaxvation is suspected.
