PROGRESS OF DEEP GREEK SCHEME The city engineer’s report on the progress of works in connection with the Deep Creek waterworks shows that, during the last fortnightly period, the pipe contractors laid a length of 3,814 ft of pipe. The total length of pipe now laid from the intake is 28.17 miles, of which -25.48 miles has been backfilled and passed as satisfactory. The trenching contractor completed 2,100 ft of trench during the fortnight, making a total of 10,800 ft completed to date. The length of the contract is 13,671 ft. Corporation labour has been engaged on fencing, erection ‘of telephone line, and garage at the caretaker’s house, road work at Taioma,, erection of break-pressure tank fittings, repairing the Longridge road, erecting half-mile posts, and carrying materials to the bridge at Flagstaff Creek.
