THE 'MESSIAH ’
In the Town Hall to-night the Dunedin Choral Society will present Handel’s great oratorio the ‘'Messiah ’ with an outstanding quartet of soloists and a choir singing at ‘its best in a work that it knows thoroughly. It is hoped to make this concert a fitting finale to what has been one of the society’s most successful seasons. The choruses in the ‘Messiah ’ can be fully appreciated only when sung by a large body of singers, and this evening 150 singers will be directed by Mr Walmsley in such grand choral numbers as ‘Hallelujah Chorus,’ ‘ And the Glory,’ etc.,; and Madame Winnie Fraser, Miss Mary Pratt, Mr Ernest Drake, and Mr Wilfred Kershaw will ■ bo heard' in the numerous beautiful solos found in this work, such as ‘ I Know That My Redeemer Liveth, 5 ‘He Shall Feed His Flock,’ ‘ Comfort Ye,’ ‘ Every Valley,’ and ‘ Why Do the Nations.’ The accompaniments will be played on the piano and organ by Mrs H. C. Campbell and Dr Galway.
