WEATHER FORECAST
FAIR BUT CLOUDY The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, covering the south-* ern district Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, River* ton, Orepuki, Bluif, Halfmoon Bay* Pressure is still high and rather uni* form over New, Zealand and the Tas* man Sea. Forecast: Moderate and vari* able winds; weather mainly fair, but cloudy at times and misty rain likely, at isolated places; seas smooth to moderate. A SULTRY CALM. Rain cooled the atmosphere _ for a time last evening, and, while it continued to appear close at hand for the remainder of the night, this morning nothing further had _ developed up till noon. Even the rain which fell was not recorded; so that_ to-day was the tenth successive day without such a registration. The sky was hazy, though light, and the sun did not appear to be far beyond the pale clouds, for it was still sultry and mild at noon, when the temperature was Gldeg, compared witq 70.2 deg for the whole of yesterday. The main contributory factor was a change in the breeze’s direction- to the southj east, but the barometer was rising ai 30.3 m. Last night’s minimum tend perature was 56.3 deg, which fell id 53.5 deg early this morning.
