COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—As one taking a deep interest in civic affairs' generally and staff appointments in particular, it will be interesting to learn just when the City Council proposes to finalise the appointments of race supervisor and water inspector. The foregoing _ positions were advertised and closed in October last, since which time rumours with a decided political shade have been current. In view of recent complaints in the matter of appointments it will be a relief to learn that current rumours aye quite unfounded, and that in full consideration of Dunedin’s best interests only men with every qualification for these positions and irrespective of political bias will be. appointed.—l am, etc., Noses: Pahkeh. December 4.
