The Warsaw correspondent of 1 The Times ’ says: “ The Government has decreed an emergency tax, graduated to 25 per cent., on the salaries of all State employees. It is expected to yield £6,000,000, thus covering half the present Budget deficit. The War Department has been allocated £30,000,000 of the total revenue of £86,000,000 for the year commencing on April 1. While the Government is determined to adhere to the unfettered gold standard to balance the Budget the position is critical and it will bo Poland’s most difficult winter since the depression began.
