DUNEDIN SWIMMING CARNIVAL
BIG PROGRAMME TO-MORROW NIGHT A fine programme has been arranged for the Dunedin Amateur Swimming Club’s annual carnival at the Municipal Baths to-morrow night, and the entries are very large indeed. Much interest will centre on the water polo match between Kiwi -A and Dunedin A, and the flying squadron 500yds relay will afford the public the opportunity of, seeing some of the province’s fastest swimmers in action. The New Zealand champion, W. J. Jarvis, is an entrant in the 100yds short limit handicap, .in which some very good racing should be seen. P. E. Mathieson, New Zealand 150yds back stroke champion, will be seen in action in the 06 2-3yds back stroke handicap, and other interesting events should be the 100yds breast stroke handicap, the 66 2-3yds second ,class handicap, which has drawn a very large entry, and a junior 33 l-3yds handicap. The inclusion of a 25yds novice race has proved very popular with the competitors, and this should be a very interesting event. Some spectacular displays should be witnessed in the interclub dive, in which each competjtor has to perform two compulsory dives and two voluntaries. Further variety is given to the programme by the inclusion of a six-a-side interclub relay handicap, and altogether the carnival promises to be one of the best staged in Dunedin for a long time past.
