AUCKLAND CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING The Auckland Club held its annual meeting on Thursday evening, a good attendance of members being present. The retiring president (Mr Ernest Griffin) expressed his grateful thanks to all the members for their loyal support. Co-operation and good fellowship had been the keynote of the club in all its meetings. Thanks to the activities of the original members, he could definitely say the club had been well and truly established and was now serving a useful as well as a social function in the community. During the year there had been many-welcome guests at the social evenings. The visit to Dunedin of Sir Clutha Mackenzie and the band of the New Zealand Blind Institute had given the club an opportunity of doing some useful and pleasurable work, in appreciation of which he had received a letter of thanks. He acknowledged the interest of the club’s patron (Mr Ernest Davis, Mayor of Auckland), who, he hoped, would favour the club with a visit at one of its meetings. Among recent activities a picnic had been held at Wharo Flat and the outing had been an enjoyable one for all, and especially for the children. Referring to the year’s work of the committee, he congratulated them on their enthusiasm and regular attendance at meetings. He also eulogised the good work of the senior vice-president (Mr Osborne), to whom, as president for tho coming year, he extended his best wishes for a happy period of office. Responding, Mr Osborne thanked the members for his election, assuring them he would do his best + .o continue tho good work of his predecessors. On his motion, Mr Griffin was elected a member of the committee.' The treasurer’s report of the nine socials held during the year showed the satisfactory result of an increased credit balance. 1 ■ The following are the office-bearers for tho ensuing year:—Patron, the Mayor of Auckland (Mr Ernest Davis); vice-patron, the Rev.
