STRATHNAVER ARRIVES [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, November 22. With 874 tourists on board and about 40 passengers from England and the East for New Zealand, the Peninsular and Orient tourist ship Strath- ! naver arrived at Auckland this, afternoon. There was a large crowd on tho wharf to await her arrival, and she was berthed almost like a ferry boat. The Strathnavcr had made an ex- . ceptionally fast trip from Brisbane, the distance of 1,334 miles to Auckland being covered at an average speed of 20.56 knots. For the most part tho voyage was rough and many of tho passengers did not appear on deck until the ship reached the harbour. Four representatives of the Government Tourist Bureau travelled to Auckland on the ship, and complete arrangements had been made for various trips by the tourists through the North Island before the Strathnaver leaves Wellington at 6 (J*clock •on Alouday evening for Sydney. She is to leave , Auckland at midnight to-morrow for < Wellington. Immediately after the ship arrived at Auckland a. party of 40 people were despatched for Wellington by car. It was intended that they should reach Waitomo to-night, Wairakei to-morrow and Wanganui on Sunday. Twenty of the tourists left on a trip to Waitomo and Rotorua, and they will rejoin the ship to-morrow night. A small party also left for Wellington via Rotorua. Waitomo. ami New Plymouth. Another party of 100 left for Rotorua, and then some of ib.em are for. tho. Chateau and some for Napier. _ They will rejoin the Strathnaver at Wellington. ’
