“This tablet marks Jedburgh’s association witli a personality which had power to call out rare loyalty and sacrifice, and in doing so to create one of the most poignant romances in Scottish history,” said the Duchess of Atholl, M.P., at Jedburgh, when, deputising for her husband, tho Duke of Atholl, she unveiled the memorial stone which has been placed by Jcthart Gallants’ Club on the house m which Prince Charles Edward Stuart lodged on November 6 and 7, 1745, when at the head of his Jacobite followers lie passed through Jedburgh on his way across the Border.
