With Abyssinia and its rulor so much “ in the news,” and Haile Selassie and his capital of Addis Ababa on everybody’s tongue, all sorts of pronunciations are current and nobody seems to know what is correct. The Ethiopian Legation in London has supplied the following information :—Haile Selassie is properly pronounced Hay-lee (with the first syllable accented) Sell-ah-see; and Addis Ababa is pronounced Addiss (with second syllable accented) Abbyaha (accenting tlie first syllable).
