HIGH SPEED PLANES FOR NEW ZEALAND TRUNK SERVICE.— The Avro 652, fastest British commercial aeroplane has established a reputation as England’s finest commercial machine. Its high cruising speed, of 160 m.p.h. will, when in operation shortly on an Auckland-Dunedin service, enable Hie route of 779 miles to be covered in an actual flying-time, under still-air conditions, of hours. The top speed of these machines is 195 m.p.h. A fleet of these aircraft has already been ordered for delivery next year to Great Pacific Airways to inaugurate the new service. They will be equipped to carry six passengers in luxurious comfort and will also carry a crew of two air mails, luggage, and freight.
