MR CAMERON’S CANDIDATURE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir. —I attended tbe National candidate’s meeting in tbe Methodist Hall, Cavevsham, on Tuesday night. The Press report of this meeting_ gives the impression, that the candidate am swered all questions satisfactorily and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Actually the candidate refused to answer questions unless the questioner could give' s6me proof that he or she was in the Dunedin Central electorate. The vote of thanks was moved, after » painful silence, by a gentleman whose manner apologised for his words, and about 10 people clapped their hands. One questioner asked one of those awkward questions j he had made _ a note of the own contradictory statements, and asked for an explanation. This is not considered sporting by parliamentary candidates, so it was decided that this questioner must be from some other electorate, and an answer was refused. Later the same questioner asked the speaker and his chairman for permission to ask:one or two questions. This was agreed to by an inclination of the fiead by tbe chairman. The questioner then referred to his notes, and asked two more of those awkward ones. At this stage the chairman thought the questions should be asked one at a time, but the candidate saw rocks ahead, and refused to answer. , I would suggest that you as* the Isational candidate for Dunedin Central to include in his advertisement Tjnat it will be necessary for intending- questioners to furnish proof that they art in the central electorate. —I am, etc., Disappointed, November 21.
