MR PUNCH’S YOUTH
‘Mr Punch,’ monarch of English humorists, was the subject of a oneact fantasy by Mr C. R. Allen given before a large audience in All Saints’ Schoolroom last night. This play, a buoyant piece, possessing a decidedly whimsical strain, was ■ attractively presented. The producer was Mr Arthur Watson, and tho cast was as follows:—Mr Goodbody (a dollmaker), Morris Kershaw; Sparrow (his son, a cripple), Robert Jeffreys; Mr Whistler (a Punch and Judy showman), Arthur Watson; Tim ivory (a street musician), A. 11. Watson; Herb (a gentleman at large), G. Hutton; Perc (another gentleman at large), A. Jackson; Punch, Hal Roberts; Judy, Miss D. Duthie.
Prior to tho presentation of tho play Air Allen spoke briefly, recalling the interesting theatrical associations which are connected with the .schoolroom.
During the evening the Following additional items were given:—Violin solo, Mr Roland Watson; Maori songs. Miss Tni Ronncll ; songs, Mr Jlal Doberls and Mr A. Jackson.
