Although thousands of “ shooting stars ’’ penetrate tho earth’s atmosphere every day, there is no authenticated case on record where a person has been killed or injured by a meteorite or a particle of one. There are actually only about eight cases on record where even property _ damage has resulted from a meteorite, and this damage has not been serious.
