KINGSFORD SMITH

SEARCH TO CONTINUE NEW DIRECTION TO BE TRIED Fress Association —By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, November 20. It is now possible that the search for Sir Charles Kingsford Smith will be continued in a different direction. Mr L. Kingsford Smith, the aviator’s eldest brother, who has just returned from the country, says Sir Charles told him he would take the direct route, and mentioned that ho would fly via Singora to Singapore because it was shorter, and the weather on the east coast was generally better. This information has been cabled to Singapore. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith’s relatives have received a number of communications from spiritualists, but no two of them agree as to where the plane came down. An American clairvoyant says: “ Smith is alive and must he rescued within a week.” GROUND SEARCH URGED. SYDNEY, November 21. (Received November 21, at 11.45 a.m.) Following the dispatch of a cablegram to Singapore, the office of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith in Sydney is endeavouring to arrange for a search from Sydney if the Royal Air Force at Singapore decided not to act upon the cablegram and not resume the search. The Australian Flying Corps Association telegraphed the Minister of Defence expressing the opinion that a ground search should be conducted within a radius of 250 miles from Singapore. The association has offered a reward of £IOO to assist in the search.
