SOUTHLAND MEETING
THE FINAL GALLOPS [Per United Press -Association.] INVERCARGILL, November 21. Weather and track conditions were perfect for training operations at Invercargill this morning, when candidates in the Southland Racing Club’s Spring Meeting were given their final gallops. All the fast work was done on the course proper, about 20ft from tho rails. Honest Maid beat June the Third over a mile in Imin 45 2-ssec, the last four, furlongs in 52 3-ssec. Honest Maid was running strongly at the finish, and her recent track work has been of an encouraging order. , Red Boa beat Young Sentinel narrowly over six furlongs in Imin 18 2- the last four furlongs done in 53sec. It was a good gallop, and both horses did well. Amelita and Galleon were together at the end of six furlongs in Imin 20sec, the last four done in 53 2-ssec. Both horses finished on, and Amelita could have improved on her effort. . Enwood was under a strong hold when running five furlongs in Imin 5 4-ssec. Pompax beat All Humbug comfortably over six furlongs in Imin 17 3Red Treasure and Thornton were joined by Ocean Singer over the last four of six furlongs, and the last-named easily accounted for Thornton. _ The six furlongs were run in Imin 17 3-ssec. Great Shot, who is very well, ran four furlongs under restraint in 52 Steeton ran a mile in Imin 49 2-6 sec, the last four furlongs in 53 3-ssec. She is none the worse for her racing at Riccarton. . _ . ta Gas Raid ran a mile in Imin 48 3-ssec, the last four furlongs m 53 2-ssec. , . Gold Street beat Choicewood over five furlongs in Imin 7 3-ssec. .. Horn’s Reef beat Corban and Waiponnamu comfortably oyer six furlongs in Imin 19 2-ssec, the last four furlongs in 53scc. Cough, who is under a cloud, was restricted to an easy sprint over three furlongs. She was moving a bit short, and it .is thought she has ricked a muscle behind. M*Nab also hurt himself behind, and was confined to slow wort. FIRST CORNWELL CUP RACE [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Noveihber 21. The first sailing race for the Cornwell Cup will be held at Auckland on Janu-, ary 21. Nominations close on December 1. •
