MR COATES AS GODFATHER

WAR-TIME ASSOCIATION 'COMMEMORATED [Per United Press Association.] NAP.IER, November 21. The Hon. J. G. Coates this morning stood as godfather to John Gordon Lawrence Speakman, the infant son of Mr and Mrs John • Speakman, of Napier. Mr Coates and Mr Speakman were together in Franc© and were at Passchendaele in 1917. Together with Mr Coates’s batman, Lawrence Towers, they fought a not engagement and took 200 German prisoners. The child hears the names of the three men.
