SUBSIDY ON FARM IMPROVEMENTS
SCOPE ANNOUNCED [Per United Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, November 20. The Minister of Employment, the Hon. S. G. Smith, announced to-day particulars of the farm buildings and machinery which will be eligible for the subsidy under the Unemployment Board’s scheme for assisting in an endeavour to improve the quality of dairy produce in conjunction with the creation of employment. -The details are as follow:—Wool sheds, implement : sheds, manure sheds, hay sheds, calf houses, stables, honey houses, fruit cool stores, fruit packing sheds, poultry farm buildings and concreting yards, and the of water supply. The subsidy is 8 per cent, if done by contract or engaged labour; otherwise 10 per cent, of the net invoice cost of the materials. The equipment is eligible if new and of New Zealand make. The rate of subsidy will be £2 for the first £lO, increasing by Is Ad in the £1 up to £IOO, and thereafter 8 per cent, up to £2OO and 5 per cent, in excess of £2OO. Applications will now be accepted, those for. buildings to be forwarded to the nearest officer of the Department of Agriculture and those in respect to equipment alone to the certifying officers.
