Owing to the exceptional low state of the Molyneux .River, the building of the Molyneux Company’s dredge at Clyde has been brought to a standstill. Old Clyde residents state that the river has not been in such a low state at this time of the year for over 20 years. The contractors, Messrs Stevenson and Cook Ltd., had the hull completed early in July, and since then have carried on erecting the superstructure, which is now also practically completed. No more weight, however, can be put on the hull until after launching, and the contractors have had to transfer their employees to their headquarters in Port Chalmers. Reports Inst night, however, indicated that there is every prospect of a rise at any time now, It is to be hoped that this will eventuate in the near future to allow the dredge to be completed and put into operation.
