BURNSIDE STOCK SALES
CATTLE MARKET STEADY Almost throughout the sale at Burnside to-day the fat cattle market "remained steady, late values being reached at all times. A special line of 70 head of store cattle arrived from the West Coast district after spending 14 days on the journey, and this was the reason of a considerable increase in the number of stores yarded. A penning of 290 head of fat cattle showed the smallest number of prime trucked cattle for many weeks. Approximately 40 head of prime bullocks came forward, the rest, for the most part, being locals, and with the excep-. tion of a percentage of prime medium bullocks, the balance was almost entirely of green and light bullocks, with an increased number of cows and heifers. The market opened firm at last week’s values, and although there was a hardening tendency about the middle of the sale, this being due to outside competition, the market closed as it began. It can be described as a steady market for all grades of fat cattle.
