CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR PATIENTS AND PRISONERS.
TO THE EDITOR Sir, —The Patients and Prisoners’ Aid Society again makes its annual ap- : peal to its many friends in the city and country to provide Christmas cheer for patients, prisoners, and their dependents. Donations received will go towards providing a treat and gifts for patients in the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium, the Wakari the mental hospitals at Seacliff and Waitati, the prisoners in the gaol at Dunedin, and for the dependents of those who are serving sentence elsewhere. Altogther our family consists of over 1,300 people. The big majority are, mental hospital patients who are apt to be lost sight of by the general public. Here is an opportunity for a kindly remembrance at this season, which always stirs our generous feelings. Donors can depend on the contributions sent being spent to the very best advantage, and are assured that no Christmas cheer will be received with greater appreciation.—l am, etc., Alex. Steven (Agent). November 20.
