BIG CHARITY CONCERT

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS CHEER FUND Gladys Moncrieff will make her reappearance in a big charity concert on Thursday, September 26, at 8 p.m., in the Town Hall. The New Zealand Broadcasting Board is arranging this concert, and the whole of the proceeds are for the mayoress's childrens Christmas cheer fund. Every shilling that is contributed will make some child very happy at Christmas. The prices of admission are 2s and Is, with no tax and no booking fee. It has been decided to open plan on Thursday next for preferential booking at 3s, and the plan for the 2s and Is opens on Friday at 9 a.m. A queue will be formed at 8. This is going to be an excellent concert with all star artists, and in addition to Gladys Moncrieff, who is sure to receive a great reception, Gil Dech (pianist and guest conductor) will perform. Heather Kinnaird, the Australian contralto, will also assist. Raymond Beatty (bassbatitonc) is sure to be a favourite. Fred Bluett will provide the humour, and is sure to receive a great welcome from his own Dunedin friends. John Robertson (New Zealand cornetist), who was such a favourite at the last concert, will make his reappearance. An augmented orchestra will provide the accompaniments.
