THE ALL BLACKS

THE SEOftND MATCH TEAM TO PLAY MIDLAND COUNTIES i LONDON, September 16. (Received September 17, at 10 a.m.) The New Zealand team against Midland Counties on Thursday will be: — Full-back.—Gilbert. Three-quarters.—Hart, Oliver, Mitchell. Five-eighths.—Solomon, Page. Half-back. —Sadler. Forwards.—Manchester (captain). Lambourn, Dalton, Adkins, M'Kenzic, King, Best, Pepper. Hadley had a very comfortable day. GREAT EXHIBITION OF ART DANGEROUS FIVE-EIGHTHS LINE LONDON, September 16. (Received September 17, at 10.10 a.m.) The ‘ Evening News ’ says the New Zealanders gave a great exhibition of art, which is badly needed for a revival! of English Rugby—namely, quick, clean heeling. Every man in the pack keeps his eye on the ball, and, accordingly, the ball is never held up except intentionally, and never clumsily heeled. This is the rule rather than a novelty. The five-eighths are going to make a team exceedingly dangerous on attack.

INTERESTING TACTICS EXPECTED

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, September 16. The ‘Manchester Guardian,’ in an editorial, says: “For any other than New Zealanders a victory by 35 points to 6 in the first match would be something remarkable, but We can only regard it as a right and proper score, and note with a sense of relief that the men of Devon and Cornwall at least proved that it is possible to score a try against the latest edition of the All Blacks. Ever since 1905 the All Blacks have set Britain a standard in football that can hardly be raised in terms of statistics'. The New Zealanders can be relied on to provide some interesting tac.tics, which will be forced only too rudely on the attention of our players. We wish them luck in the lessons, reserving the patriotic hope that the teachers will be taught at least once in the course of the season.”
