CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP
THE OTACO TEAM fSpjCUL TO THU ‘StAH.’I WELLINGTON, July 18. Expressing themselves as fit and well, the Otago cross-country representatives in charge of the manager, Mr B. R. M'Kernan, arrived from the south to-day. The whole team is confident of retaining the teams_ championship, but members, > including W. A. Pullar, are non-committal regarding their prospects with the Aucklander, J. W. Savidan. This afternoon the team was taken over the championship course at Lyall Bay by Mr L. A. Bond, a former Otago runner and member of the Wellington Harrier > The course, which contains an initial 300yds beach and a liberal sprinkling of road work, is thought by members not up to the usual cross-country standard, but, nevertheless, fairly satisfactory. The Otago team will train at the Wellington College grounds to-morrow. Mr J, Beatson, the Otago delegate, arrived with the team.
