THE QUEEN’S WOMEN

To be appointed to the Household of Her Majesty Queen Mary in any capacity is a great honour. There are the following appointments:—Mistress of the Robes, Ladies of the Bedchamber, Extra Ladies of the Bedchamber, Bedchamber Women, and Maids of Honour. Queen Victoria had eight Maids of Honour, among whose duties were reading aloud to Her Majesty, accompanying her on drives, and playing to her in the evening; in these less conventional times Queen Mary has one Maid of Honour only.
