STATION HOLD-UP
PORTER SHOT BY BANDIT Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, June 30. A masked man held iip the station master, Mr Arthur Jay, at. North Strathneld suburban railway at midnight and demanded the booking office takings. Jay told the intruder he had no money and no keys, whereupon a shot was fired in his direction. Tins attracted two porters, one of whom, Mr Allen Clark, defied the bandit and was shot in the abdomen. His condition is serious. The bandit escaped, POLICE THEORY. SYDNEY, July 1. (Received July 1, at 10 a.m.) The police believe that the bandit who held up the North Stratfield station master and wounded Allan Clarke (not Clark) is the same man who bailed up the two storekeepers.
[Presenting two revolvers and affecting a headpiece similar to that worn by the Ku Klux Klan, a bandit on June 24 held up two occupants of shops in Western Suburbs, in the first instance receiving £4 10s, but in the second only a few pence. Several persons who saw the robber leave the second shop gave chaser but without success.]
