ANGLICAN. Anglican held their run from the Caversham School, a fair muster turning out under the whistle of Clubcaptain Holmes The trail lay up Corstorphine to the golf links, thence along the road to Blackhead. Before descending to the beach the pack branched to tho right towards Burnside, eventually reaching the South road-past tho Concord School. From hero a steady pace was set for home, Holmes being first in, from M'Lachlan and llockliff. Members of the Otago cross-country teams held a trial run over the course at Wingatui. CAVERSHAM. Caversham held its senior and junior cross-country championships at Wingatui. The juniors ran with the seniors, but covered only one lap of the course. From the, start Abernethy led Austin, Donovan, Frye, and Barr. This order was maintained till going out of the racecourse, when Gerrie, George, and C. Walker got up to the front, bunch, and L. Lemon ran up to third place. The order remained practically unchanged throughout, with Abernethy still well up to the front and well ahead of the rest of the juniors. Coming on to the ploughed paddock the second time L. Lemon ran to the front and finished 100yds ahead of G. Austin, who headed Donovan by 50yds. Abernethy won the junior event easily from G. The Pacific Club held its annual six and a-quarter-mil© cross-country handicap and championship for the Isbister Memorial Cup, under very heavy conditions The starter. Mr Henry, sent the field away in good order, and M'Laren the scratch man made good headway in the first lap, when he caught up, with Mann and Hastio, who were both running well. In the second lap M'Laren left Mann and Henry, and passed Mouat and Hill, M'Laren kept the lead to the finish, the placings being; J. M'Laren. 1, P. Mpuat 2, J. Mann 3. The fastest times for tho championship were: J. M'Larcsx 1, F. Mouat 2, and J. Mann 3 ; The winner of the junior three-mile championship was J. Hastie, with H. Jones 2, and R. Wilson 3. ST. PATRICK’S, The St. Patrick’s Club held its crosscountry championship over a six and a-quarter-mile course at Wingatui, a good field of over 20 runners facing the starter (Mr W. T. Ryan). The muddy going affected the pace at tho start. The Greaney brothers soon showed out, however, and led the field over the sod wall, followed by T. Robertson, J. Daly, and O. Scott improved his position ascending the hill, and was about 200yds behind the Greaney brothers commencing the second lap, followed by Carroll, Robertson, Brady, Millin, and Daly. Brady put in a strong run along the Janefield road the last time, overtaking Scott, the Greaney brothers running freely some distance ahead. Positions were unaltered during the remainder of the race, L. and N. Greaney finishing unseparated over two minutes ahead of Brady, who beat Scott by inches for third plac6. T. Robertson and F. Hall finished next, followed at intervals by Carroll, Daly, W. Henaghan, N. Hall, Millin, and G. Lovelock. Result: —L. Greaney and N. Greaney (dead heat) 1, M. Brady 2, O, Scott 3. Time, 39mm 20sec. The sealed handicap resulted: —0. Scott 1, M. Brady 2. The following are asked to train in view of next week’s cross-country championship:—N. Greaney, L. Greaney, M. Brady, O. Scott, T. Robertson, P. Hall, R. Carroll, A. J. Daly, W. Henaghan, N. Hall, C. Millin, and G. W. Lovelock. DUNEDIN. The above club held its 6i mile cross-country championship at Wingatui for tho Connell Bros.’ Cup. A fair field faced the starter, Mr R. Thompr son. Approaching the sod wall for the first time round, tho field was well bunched. Going down Janefield road the field was beginning to string out, J. Ferguson just heading A. Storer, H. Connell, and C. Turner, the rest of the field being in close attendance. At the sod wall, for the second time, J. Ferguson was in first place, 70yds in front of A. Storer. The placing did not change in the second round, J. Ferguson winning by a fair margin from A. Storer, who was closely followed by H. Connell. C. Turner finished strongly in fourth place. Championship.—J. Ferguson 1, A. Storer 2, H. Connell 3. Sealed Handicap.—H. Connell 1, Turner 2. The Dunedin team for the Otago C.C. championship is as follows.—H. Connell, J. Ferguson, A. Storer, F. Breese, C. Turner, J. Lorimer. LEITH. The Leitli Harrier Club held its senior and junior cross-country championships over tho recognised course at Wingatui. A sealed handicap was held in conjunction with tho senior event. Although no rain fell during tho race the track was very heavy after the recent rains. , Both senior and junior teams started together, and H. M as t® rs the pack at a fast pace along the straight and over the sod wall. Here a bunch, consisting of King, Markham, Pridham, and Reid went to the front, with Avent and Matson heading tho remainder. Going along the road past the gums Masters and Markham held the lead, but the hill section saw Herd forge to the front, followed at an interval bv Markham; thou Avent, King, and Masters. Reid definitely assumed the lead going down Janefield road, and throughout the race steadily increased it. At the conclusion of the first round the juniors finished, and S. Avent easily bended R. Dalton, with H. Davidson further back third. Avent ran most impressively.

The senior event continued more or less as a procession, with Reid going great guns in the front, followed by Markham and King, who were also well separated. The only change was that Watson displaced Thomson, and Scott left Straehan, who was well clear of the remainder of the field. Rod Reid finished 200yds clear of Markham, with S. King well back third and the’rest of the field well strung out. Results: —- Junior Championship. 3m. —S. B. Avent 1, R. Dalton 2, H. Davidson 3. Sealed handicap: S. B. Avent. Senior (61m) Championship. —E. J. Reid 1, H. G. Markham 2, S. King 3, R. N. Watson 4. Sealed Handicap.—J. Thomson 1, H. G. Markham 2, S. King 3. HANOVER BAPTISTS. This club held its junior three-mile championship over one lap of the Otago C.C. course. Nine competitors faced the starter (Mr H. J. Hayward), and all got away to a good start. C. A. Broad, A. Scoones, and M'lntyre opened up a lead almost immediately and were first over the sod walls. At the first fence Broad had opened up a good lead and led all the way. Result 0. A. Broad 1, A, Scoones 2, D. Nelson 8, G. Scoones 4. The sealed handicap was won by C. A. Broad, with A. Scoones second and G. Scoones third. ■ NORTHERN AND CARGILL ROAD. Under exceptionally wintry conditions, with a bitterly cold win from the south and rain on the horizon, Northern and Cargill Road held their annual combined run from the schoolroom of the Dundas Street Methodist Church. Under the whistles of Captain G. Armishaw (Northern) and Deputy-captains N. Thomson (Cargill Road) and D. Finchara (Northern), an average-sized pack set off at a fast pace along the Main. North road for a short distance, then, turning across Potter’s farm. From this point a long, slow climb followed to Campbell road. A short length of this road was covered in the teeth of a strong wind to a turnoff across the paddocks to a clay road. At this stage the trail was exceptionally wet and muddy. A small stream was crossed, and the steep slope of a gully negotiated to the Pino Hill road. A fast pace was set to Dahnore crescent, where the pack hunched up and followed along Clifford street to the 101 steps, which were covered in short time. The pack followed down the slope to the Main, road at a slow jog, when the whistle for the run home was given. B. Haugh (Northern), G. Macgregor (Cargill road), and T. Harkness (Northern) broke out from the pack tostage a good race along , the home stretch, and were successful in finishing in that order. ST KILDA. The club’s, annual six-mile handicap race was • run at Wingatui over the Otago cross-country course under wintry conditions, a cold wind making things unpleasant for the runners. The limit man (Middlemiss) was despatched by the starter (Mr C, Bissland), followed at intervals-by the rest of the field. Pope (scr) and Still (30 see), were running together on reaching Janefield road and were gathering the field nicely the ■ first time round. Middlemiss, who was making good use of his handicap, had a margin of 2yds from Cope, M'lntyre, and Johnstone when the sod wall was reached first time round, but M'lntyre, who was running very strongly,_ toqk command at the hill and maintained his lead to win very convincingly from ,C. Pope (who gained several placings, over the last mile). Still being third and Cope fourth. Fastest time honours: C. Pope (scr) 1, C. Still 2. The following is the team for the junior cross-country:—L. Dickson, L. Still, Cope, Haldane, Michael, Middlemiss; emergencies, Taylor and Fraser. CIVIL SERVICE. • The annual club-championships were held at Wingatui, tho senior event over the 10,000-metre course (61 miles) and the junior over one lap of that course ■ (three miles). The course was very heavy, and a strong wind down _ Janefield road hampered the competitors. At the start of the senior event, the first race, the club stood in silence as a mark of respect to Mr J. Faulks, a life member find first club captain. Mr J. Hoy despatched the seniors, and from a very fast start Barnes and M'Lachlan- showed out from Geddes and M'Keich, and this order was kept round to the sod wall. Under the pines Barnes led over the fence from M'Lachlan, who fell and interfered with Geddes in third place. The pace was on down the road and up the hill the first time. Geddes moved-past Barnes and took the lead, and, forcing the pace up the steep hill ho led on to Janefield road by 50yds, followed, by Barnes and M'Lachlan. This order was maintained round the railway line, across the plough, and on the track. With a lap to go Geddes led Barnes by 100yds, with M'Lachlan 20yds back third, followed by Mackinnon, Kirkwood, Asher and Anderson. Geddes was striding freely, and did not look like getting beaten at this stage. This order was kept till the plough the last time. Coming on the course proper Geddes led Barnes and M'Lachlan, who wete running < together. Geddes ran home an easy winner from M'Lachlan, who had left Barnes in the straight. Asher, Anderson, and Mackinnon had a grand race home for fourth place, Asher prevailing from Anderson, followed by Mackinnon and Kirkwood. ■ T Result:—A. R. Geddes 1, C. M'Lachlan 2, J. G. Barnes 3. Time, 36min 16 3-ssec. Sealed handicap: R. Whittleston 1, E. L. Dotting 2, W. •Mackinnon 3. The junior event was also an interesting one, and from the start _ Eline, Coutts, Herbison, and Wilkinson showed up. These four made the pace, and coming on to the plough, Coutts, who had been hanging in behind Elute, went to the front, followed by Iftilkinson. Coutts, however, had a lot in reserve, and went on from Wilkinson to win hv 40yds, with Eliffo 15yds back third, “followed by Herbison, M'Levie, and E. Asber. Result:—N. Coutts 1, Wilkinson 2, M. Eliffe 3. The winner holds tlic Caroline Memorial Shield. Sealed Handicap.—ll. M'Levie 1, E. Asher 2, M. Eliffo 3. MORNINGTON.

Tlio Mornington Club held its senior and junior cross-country championships at Wingatui over a heavy course. Ten runners started in the junior race, and as they ran out of the straight on to the road Munro had taken the lead, with M'Morran, Maitland, and Kennedy following in that order. Going up the hill Maitland went into second place, and on tho road down the back straight Kennedy also passed M'Morran. Across the plough the order was Munro, Maitland, M'Morran, and Kennedy, and, this was maintained till the straight, when Kennedy moved up into third place. Tho others followed in this order: Loan, J. Wallace, Marshall, W. Wallace, Ottaway, and Miller. Hie sealed handicap went to J. Wallace, with M'Morran second. A field of 14 set off in tho senior race, and going across the paddocks

for the first time Callister and Rackley were running together, with Hall, Crooke, and Graveson at intervals of about 20yds. Rackley dropped back to third going down the hill, and the order at the end of the first lap was Collister, Hall, Rackley, Crooke, and Graveson. The former was running very well and increased his lead to win by about 150yds from Hall, with Graveson third. Collister’s time was 57min 25sec. The sealed handicap was won by Graveson, with Parlin second. The following is the team for the junior C.G. championship;—Munro, Maitland, M'Morran, Loan, J. Wallace, *W. Wallace, with Marshall as emergency.

, ROSLYN. The Roslyn Harriers held a run from the Anderson’s Bay School. The pack, under the,whistle of Deputy-captain D.Scott, rah along Jeffrey and Hamilton: streets to Highcliff road, which was followed to the Cafe, where the road to the right to Tomahawk was taken. A' steady pace was maintained from the Cafe into TomahaVk, the pack keeping together well and showing good form. The road leading to the top gates of the cemetery was followed, from wherp the run home was held via Minto street and Tomahawk road to the school gates. The result was a win for J. Everett,with A. Hutton and W. Everett a good second and third. W. Pyott ran well on his first run for the season.
