ARAWA TRUST BOARD MOVING FAMILIES IN SINGLE ROOM [Per United Frees Association.! ROTORUA, June 27. The Arawa District. Trust Board, concerned at the distressing Housing conditions amongst some of the Natives in its district, has decided to raise a loan of £2,000 for the immediate relief of more urgent cases. Members of the board have recently carried out a tour of the district, and have visited a number of the more remote maraes, where they found the Natives living in oneroom od wliares which could not even be dignified by the .name of shanties, according to the chairman of the board! Mr H. Tai Mitchell.

Urgent representations are being made by the board, to the Government to expedite the promised legislation to assist the Natives to obtain better housing conditions. Mr Mitchell stated that in some cases whole families were found living in a single room, without even a weatherproof roof over their heads.
