WEATHER FORECAST
FAIR TO CLOUDY The following weather „ forecast wa« issued at noon by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, covering the southern district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— A shallow depression has moved on to Northern New Zealand, while an anti-cyclone still extends over the ■ Tasmaii Sea on to the South Island. Forecast: Light variable wind, but southerlies soon prevailing and freshening, some scattered and mainly coastal showers,but otherwise weather fair to cloudy; cold temperatures; seas smooth to moderate. SPELL OF SUNSHINE CONTINUES, An unusually hot sun for this period of the year, together with an entire absence of wind, contributed towards t making to-day’s conditions the best of ' a welcome period of fine weather experienced in Dunedin since last Friday, Tho night was cold. 2jdeg of frost being recorded, while the atmosphere of the earlier part of the morning was crisp. At noon, when the barometer showed a falling tendency at 30in, a maximum temperature of SO.Sdeg was shown, the minimum reading being 36.8 deg. Yesterday afternoon was fine, the temperatures foe the day being: Maximum, 52.1dcg; minimum, 39.8 deg.
