' Despite a chilly wind, their Majesties, escorted by Life Guards, drove in an open landau nine miles through gaily-decorated streets in South London, receiving renewed manifestations of affection from dense throngs along the route, cheers alternating with the singing of “ For he’s a jolly good fellow.” Their Majesties received the mayors and mayoresses of seven boroughs at Camberwell Green. Twelve thousand children saw the procession, being best places, at the King’s wish. Numerous tiny front gardens along the route were filled with “ grand stands ” of orange boxes. i
