PIPING AND DANCING
The Comihittee of Management of the Otago Centre met in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms on Saturday "evening, with tlw president (Mr Albert Wheeler) in the chair. An interim report of the prospective competitors was presented, and the indications are for a record entry from all parts of New Zealand for the competitions, which are to take place during the Winter Show week, at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. It was unanimously decided to confer life membership on Mr Alex. Stewart for his much-appreciated generosity to the association, extending over 20 years. The judges appointed—Mrs Boiirke (nee Beulah King), in the dancing section, and Mr Angus MacMillan, in the piping section—advised that they would accept the positions. The concert arrangements were left in the hands of Mr Arthur Macdonald, and it was unanimously decided to request Cr Dr D. G. M'Millan to take the chair at the concert, and that the mayor (Rev, E. T. Cox) be asked to open the competitions on Saturday, June 1. Donations to the funds were welcomed at the meeting, amongst which was one from Messrs J. Walker and Sons Ltd', Kilmarnock.
