CRIPPLED CHILDREN’S SOCIETY

DUNEDIN BRANCH ACTIVITIES The first meeting of the committed of the above society was held in the Chamber of Commerce rooms on Thurso day evening, the following members be-* ing present :—rMr F. AY. Mitchell (chairman), Dr M'Jiibbon, Bishop Fitchett, Rev. F. V. Fisher, Dr Gerald Fitzgerald, Messrs J, Renfrew. White,; J. C. Shand, V. S. Jacobs, G. Simpson* P. W. Stabb, P. L, Halsted, J. L. Sal* mond, W. A. Flavell,. W. R. Brugh* J. T. Paul,' J. B. Waters, jO.'B. Bait rowclough, C. y. Smith, A. Ibbotson* A Laurenson, and W. R.. Brown. The chairman explained that since* the recent public meeting the names of certain citizens who were keenly interested in the work of the society* and who were prepared to give the* movement their wholehearted assistance, had been suggested to him. Thai committee had power to add to ila| number, and he had much pleasure in moving 'that the following names lie added to the committee: —Dean Cruickshank, Messrs J. Brown, A. Mumford* G. Lane, J. Farquharson, and P. Findlay, The motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The following were unanimously elected to the Executive Committee:—Messrs F. W. Mitchell, J. L. Salmond* Dean Criiickshank, J. J. Marlow, Da 0. E. Hercus, V. S. Jacobs, J, CShand, P. W Stabb, C. Y. Smith, and W. A. Favell. It "was decided to leave the appointment of the secretary and treasurer tu( the Executive Committee, A suggested outline, for the various working committees required had been' received from the central body in Wellington, and, after full discussion: its was decided that the setting up of tb« following committees be approveFinance, publicity, investigation, transport, vocational guidance, and ladies. . . ' A suggested skeleton organisation for. the society now having been approved, these matters will he finalised following the delegates’ return from the dominion executive ' meeting- to be' held shortly in Wellington. It was resolved that the president and secretary be the Dunedin brand* delegates- to the above meeting.
