UNSETTLED, WITH RAIN The following weather forecast wa< issued at noon by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, covering the south* ern district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers. Tapahui, Winton, Invercargill, Riven ton, Orepuki, Bluff,.Halfmoon Bay;— The last of the present series oj westerly depressions is now advancing across the Tasman ■ Sea. Pressure is rising over Eastern Australia. Fore, cast: Strong north to west winds* reaching gale force in places, backing to southerlies this evening. WeatheiJ unsettled, with some rain. Snow prob. able on the ranges, and hail in places* Temperatures becoming colder. Sea* rough. FINE AFTER RAIN. Fairly heavy showers fell last night* but to-day was again fine, outdooa sports being played under the best of conditions. The- atmosphere was mild* with a slight north-east breeze. Thai maximum temperature up to noon' wasi 56deg, the minimum reading being 45.5 deg. Yesterday’s temperature* were: Maximum 60deg, minimum! 44.5 deg. For the-24 hours ended 9} o’clock this morning .06in of rain >ha4 fallen.
