BOARD’S MONTHLY MEETING At the monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Y.W.C.A., ..held last Wednesday, a welcome was accorded to Mrs P. Milne (a new member) , to Miss’ Ashton (activities secretary), and to Miss JVliddlcton (relieving cafeteria secretary). It was reported from the Executive Committee that Miss Vowlos had accepted the position of cafeteria secretary and would be taking up her duties shortly. , Minutes of appreciation of the work done by Miss Minter and Miss Hindle were recorded.

The secretary reported on the wor\ done during the past month, which wa* a somewhat broken one, owing to staff changes and the frequent holidays. The “ at home ” for Miste Jean Begg had been an excellent .function, both from the point of view of attendance and its educational value. A wreath had been placed on the Cenotaph on Anzao Day by two girl citizens on behalf of the association. Several activities with the Y.M.C.A. had taken place, as well as co-operation with other movement! in the city. .Arrangements were in hand for a women’s meeting to hear Dr Kagawa on June 14. s Recommendations from departmental committees and reports referring to th« membership campaign, to be held in June'for enlarging the women’s membership, and also preliminary arrangements for the world fellowship effort to take place in July, were approved. A matter of farther renovations was brought up from the Hostel and House Committees. It was reported that the Girl Citizen Clubs were meeting on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, arid that they would hold a recruiting in the form of a Black Cat-evening next week. Sports teams were well organised. Basketball teams were competing in the interhonse matches, seven in the Otago Association’s competitions, and two hockey teams in th« Otago Association’s competition. ,
