WEDDING

BENNETT—RIX. The wedding took place at the South Dunedin. PresDy,tcrian Church recently of Vera Elizabeth, third daughter of Mrs Rix and the late Mr E. M. Rix, of Dunedin, to Benjamin Mood, second son. of Mrs Bennett and the, late Mr W. E. Bennett, of Christchurch. The Ilev. R. T. Dodds performed the ceremony, with Mr L. Adams at the organ. Friends of the bride had taken the opportunity to decorate the’church with pink chrysanthemums and passion fruit flowers. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr A. M. Rix. ' Her lovely frock was of. pale pink lace, fashioned closely to the hips, then falling in a mass of Soft tulle frills about the feet and to a slight train. At the neck tulle was pleated to give a finishing touch, and was caught with a diamante brooch. Her embroidered veil' was in the same delicate pink, and was held over the head by a, frill of tulle, with orange blossom caught across the nape of the neck. She held a shower bouquet of palest pink and white freesias, asters, and chrysanthemums. A trio of maids attended her—Miss May Rix, a sister,, Miss Phoebe Wootton, and Miss Thelma Rix, another sister. Each was in a frock of pink Grecian georgette, the cowled back neld by a brilliant clasp and the skirt flaring into a slight train, and the accompanying hat was charmingly fashioned of silver lame with a brim of pleated Pink tulle. Muffs of frilled tullo finished with sprays of silver flowers and leaves were carried in place of the usual bouquets. Mr Alex Sinclair was best man, and Messrs' David Martin and Frank Pearson groomsmen. The guests were later entertained at. a reception at the Strand Salon. The bride’s mother was hostess, wearing a frock of blue and white crinkled silk marocain with hat to match. Her bouquet was of shaded cream roses. Mrs J. Fogarty, the bridegroom’s aiint, wore wine crepe de chine, with a matching hat, and carried deep red roses. . Before leaving on the wedding trip the bride donned a frock of brown and orange floral marocain and a chocolate brown swagger coat, her hat being in brown and orange. She carried a black coat with fur collar.

M'FARLANE—KEENAN. St. Joseph’s Cathedral was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Monday, April 22, when Margaret- Louisa, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Keenan, Dunedin, was married to Ronald Keith; second son of Mr and Mrs M'Farlane, also of Dunedin. The service was conducted by the Rev. Father M'Devitt. with Mrs G. Mitchell at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a frock of white crepe lorraine, cut on close-fitting lines, trimmed with pearls. Her beautiful veil of silk net, which was hand, worked, fell from a coronet of pearls' to: form a train. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister, Miss Noni Keenan, wearing a frock of green crepe lorraine, with black hat, and carrying a bouquet of autumn-tinted chrysanthemums, with maidenhair fern. Mr Pat Lauren was best man. After the ceremony the guests were received at the Strand Salon by the bride’s mother, who wore a black floral crepe de chine frock, with hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of red dahlias and maidenhair fern. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a brown marocain frock, with hat to tone, and a pretty spray of autumn-tinted flowers. Later Mr and Mrs M'Farlane left for the north, tho bride wearing a green frock with hat and coat to match. BALDWIN—KENNARD. ■ A wedding of widespread interest was solemnised at the Caversham Methodist Church op Wednesday, April 17, tho contracting parties being Freda Louisa, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. i F. Kennard, Caversham, and Arnold Dean, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Baldwin, Gore. Rev. B. J. James was the officiating minister, and Miss R. G. Stevens, cousin of tho bride, presided at the'organ. The church, which had been decorated by friends of the bride, made a beautiful setting as she entered on her father’s arm. Her frock of ivory satin beaute was cut on longfitting lines, and featured a high cowl collar, finished with silver lame and a silver tassel. A row of tiny satin buttons added a. smart note to the back of the frock. Tho sleeves were worn long, and tight fitting from the elbow, and fell in a point over her hands. A beautiful veil of filmy tulle, which .had been worn by the bride’s mother, was mounted on a halo of tulle and orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Martha Robertson, Dunedin, and Miss Rose Baldwin (sister of the bridegroom),.who were attired alike •"in ankle-length frocks. of pale apricot phantom crepe, with high necklines, which were gathered into a brilliant clip and featured cowl backs and sleeves. They wore floral halos, and carried sheafs of chrysanthemums, begonias, and maidenhair fern. Little Irene Graham (Hihdon), niece of the bride, fnade a dainty flower girl in her long frilled frock of pale green crepe de chine. Her fair curls were tied with a tiny pale green ribbon band, and she carried a small Victorian posy. The bridegroom was attended by Mr H, W. Hay (Wellington) as best man, and by Mr R. Thomson, of Gore, as groomsman. The ushers were Mr A. Kennard (Wellington) and Mr R. L. Hay (Dunedin). After the ceremony a reception was held at Lake’s Dining Rooms, where Mrs Kennard, attired, m a black frock, relieved with beige, and a black hat, received the guests. She earned a bouquet of dahlias and maidenhair fern. She was assisted by Mrs Baldwin,who chose for the occasion an ensemble of black, trimhied with white, and a smart black hat. She carried, a bouquet of chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. , When the young couple left later on their honeymoon the bride wore a smart brown coat and hat, skin shoes, and accessories to tone. SHANKS—DOAK. The marriage took place recently <of Agnes Doak, third daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Doak, of “ Fortification,” Alma, to Arthur, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Shanks, of Thames highway, Oamaru, and formerly of Port Chalmers, the ceremony being conducted by the Rev. H. Hogg, in St. Vivian’s Church, Totara. The church decorations of autumn leaves and bronze and yellow chrysanthemums, interwoven with sprays of native birch and coprosma, were the finished artistry of Mr E. Ewing, assisted by Miss Flora Reid, fellowchoir members of Miss Doak, The bride’s frock of leaf-green ring velvet, with, hat and shoes to tone, and that of her sister,* Rachel, the attendant bridesmaid; whiih was carried out in the same material, but of marigold shade, • along with their beautiful bouquets, all blended into the decorative scheme. The bridegroom was attended by his cousin, Mr David Bell, of Port Chalmersf' as best man. 1 During the signing of tho register Mr A. B. Couch, of Southbridge, who presided at the organ, sang the solo, ‘ Giver of Life.’ Later a family party sat down to a jolly wedding breakfast at “ Fortification.” When the bride and bridegroom left by car for the north, the bride was wearifig a model brown Angora tweed costume, with hat, fur, and all accessories to tone.
