The fortnightly meeting of Ivanhoe Lodge was held last Wednesday,, when A.D. Bro. Bird was greeted by a fair attendance of members and visitors. M.C. Bro. Rainbow introduced A.D; Bro, Larsen, officers, and members of Good Intent Lodge. Bro. Bird, on behalf of the lodge, extended them a very cordial welcome, and invited them to take 1 the chairs and work the business of the evening. The secretary was instructed to send a letter to the Ivy of Linwood Lodge, Christchurch, thanking it for the attention given to a member of Ivanhoe who was on sick funds. The sick bards gave a full report of members on the sick funds, and sick pay ammounting to £24 was passed for payment. The toast to the visitors was proposed by the secretary, and responded to by A. D. Bro. Larsen and P.G.P. Bro. Walsh (Good Intent), P.D.P. Bro. Ockwoll (Enterprise), P.T. Bro. Robertson, and P.A. Thompson. P.A. Bro. Davidson proposed the toast of Ivanhoe Lodge. A.D. Bro.
Bird responded on behalf of the lodge. The lodge .stewards supplied suppan after which the lodge was adjourned, and visitors and members had an enjoyable game of cards for one hour. The regular meeting of the Lily of the Valley Lodge, No. 11, U.A.O.D. was held on Wednesday night last in the Albany Street Hall. A.D. Bro. Wahrlich presided over a good attendance of brethren. An invitation was received from Otago Lodge No, 1 to attend its anniversary night on June 17. The Bards reported favourably on sick members, and sick pay ammounting to £6 18s 4d was passed for payment. A motion that the lodge enter for the Ross-Stewart Shield competition was carried. The M.C. was appointed to pick a team. P.A. Bro. H. Winter reported on paying a visit to Good Intent Lodge, and was thanked. P.A. Bro. H. Green reported on attending the general meeting of the United Friendly Societies’ Dispensary Committee, and was thanked. The Usual toast list was honoured, and Bro. Bolwell of Kia Ora Lodge No. 27, Pukekoe, Nortli, Island responded to the visitors toast.
Next meeting being quarter night, thf lodge will open at 7.30 p.m. The regular meeting of Enterprise Lodge was held last Wednesday, when A.D. Bro. W. Smaill presided over « good attendance of members. The lodge went into mourning as one . of its older members had passed away since last meeting. The Bards’ report disclosed that sickness arabngst the members is on the wane and sick pay amounting to £ll was passed for pay« ment. Amongst the correspondency was an invitation from Otago Lodge, No 1, to attend its anniversary meeting, it being decided to attend officially, Bros. Rees and Bezett, delegates to th* U.P.S. Council, gave a very feraphia report of the recent annual meeting of the council, and were extended; a - hearty vote of thanks. The remainder; , of the business was quickly disposed of, and the lodge adjourned early to carry out the syllabus item—social evening.' Progressive euchre was played until 9.30 p.m., when dancing was enjoyed until midnight, Bro. J. B. Welsh mak« ing a very efficient 0V1.0., and tjh* music being supplied by Bro. A, Croy.,
