NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE

The monthly meeting of the Executive Council of the New Zealand Institute of' Horticulture was held recently with Mr J. A. Campbell in the chair. It was not.ed with gratification that their Excellencies, Viscount Galway and Lady Galway, had accepted/be office of patrons of the institute. ' * Information regarding the institute was directed to be sent in connection with the proposed formation of a centenary horticultural council for Victoria. The Director of the Horticulture Division, Department of Agriculture, forwarded copies of correspondence with tho president of the executive of the International Horticultural Congress in Rome in 1935, regarding the formation of a national committee for New Zealand, and it was decided that the Executive Council of the Institute should act as such, and that endeavour should be made to secure representation for New Zehland at the congress. , It was decided that the amended main syllabus for exairiinations and the syllabus for florists' and for seedsman’s certificates should come into force from date of issue. . ' , A letter of appreciation was directed to be sent to tne Hon. E. A. Ransom on the gazetting of the schedule of plants in connection with the Native Plants Protection Act, 1934. ,
