II a.m.) At Rockhampton in the Supreme Court John M'Quade (38), a prison warder, was found guilty of the murder of Pby|lis Muriel Reiger (22), and was sentenced to imprisonment for life. The couple had arranged to be married, but the evidence showed that the accused married another girl the day before the tragedy. [A sensation occurred at Rockhampton on January 16 by the discovery of a young woman’s almost nude body' in a car at the rear of a city boarding house. The victim, who had been strangled, was identified as Phyllis Reiger, aged 22, a very popular girl. She was seen in the company of a man the night before, and the mail later went to nis boarding house and became violently ill.]
