NEW ZEALAND-MADE WEEK
HUNDREDS Of DUNEDIN DISPLAYS “ With preparations almost completed, the final details being arranged, and the business people of the city working in close co-operation, ‘ New Zealand-made Week,’ which commences officially next Monday, promises _ to equal and in several directions eclipse previous efforts,” said Mr L, H. Frude, the organiser, acting on behalf of the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association, when asked to-day how things were progressing. “ Next week.” continued Mr Prude, “the people of Dunedin, city and suburbs will have a magnificent opportunity of observing how adequately the manufacturers of Dunedin and of other parts of the dominion cater for the needs of the public. With some the belief is still held that efficiency in manufacturing exists only abroad. Like the prophet, the New Zealander is not always without honour in his own country. Nothing could do more to dispel for all time this delusion than the four hundred displays of New Zea-land-mado articles which will appear in the shop windows next week. “ New Zealanders who have retained any of the deep loyalty expressed during Jubilee period must be aware oi their duty towards local manufactures. They must also fully appreciate that the question of employment is determined to a very large extent by the position of onr factories and the allied businesses. Everybody should support ‘ New Zealand made,’ not only hecause it is well made or that it is Em* pire made, but for another very good reason—it represents the most value and the best quality obtainable.” The ‘ Star ’ is issuing a special “ Made in New Zealand ” supplement, which will be available to the public early next week.
