BANK NOTE ERROR
£SO MISTAKEN FOR IDA TWO CASES IK ONE DAY [Pub United Press Association.] WELLINGTON. May 16. An advertisement yesterday stated that a firm paid away a £SO Reserve Bank note in mistake for a 10s one. The similarity of the two notes has been the subject of adverse comment before, and that there is real danger of confusion is revealed in a further story told to a Pressman to-day. It is to the effect that a debt of 30s was settled on a Karori tramcar between two passengers on the way home, one handing over two £1 notes, and the other a 10s one. The latter, on arriving home, proposed to treat his family to the sight of a £SO note. He had received it that day as the first payment on a property deal. It was not on his person, hut he quickly realised what had happened, and lost no time in going to the other man’s home. This man was astonished when asked if the note was still in the house, and equally surprised when be found it was a £SO one, as it was. This incident took place the same day as that of the advertising firm, so that on Tuesday at least foiy people confused these notes. The note advertised for has not yet turned up, and it would be interesting to know what adventures it has gone through since it was paid over.
