BROADCASTING BOARD’S CONCERT

At piristclnirch ou Tuesday evening the four visiting artists received a ‘great ovation. Hi Lionello Cecil, the Australian operatic tenor, and Mr Walter Kingsley, the celebrated English baritone, to spoil cl to double encores in each P 1 of the programme; and the duets bj these two artists also received a don Ole encore. Mr John Robertson, the chain-

pion cornetist, received one of the biggest receptions ever given to a cornet player, and he had to respond to no less than three encores. Mr Paul Vinogradoff, who is well known as a brilliant pianist, also received a double encore. The Press reports mention that it was one of the finest concerts given in Christchurch. In addition to these four artists Miss Mary Pratt, Dunedin’s own contralto, will assist. Mr John Robertson’s solos require baud accompaniments, and the St, Kilda Band (champion of New Zealand) will fill the hill. The band will also play selections. The Concert Orchestra will provide the accompaniments for the ■ singers. Day sales (Is) can be obtained at Begg’s, and 2s seats can be reserved without booking fee or tax.
