BURNS CLUB
FIRST CONCERT OF SEASON The first of the monthly concerts of the 1935-36 season arranged by tfl« Burns Club was held in the Early Setlers’ Hall last night. There was « good attendance of members, and the various items were of the usual high standard. , Before the concert commenced thos» present were welcomed by the president of the club (Mr N. Stewart), who expressed pleasure at the large audience, and extended a special welcom# to new members and visitors. The programme was as follows - Bagpipe selection, Piper G. Cnghtonj piano solo, Mr A. H. Pettitt; song, 5 Castles in the Air,’ Mr George Kerr; song, ‘The Lea Rig,’ Miss Angelo Hendrv; national dance, ‘ Sean Truibhais,’ ‘Miss Rita Warren; song, ‘ Th® Spining Wheel,’ Miss M. Hargreaves; whistle solo, ‘Scottish Airs,’ Mr P. Ramage; duet, ‘ Whispering Hope,*Misses Clara Thorne and Jessie Irishman ; song, ‘ Mary,’ Mr James Swann; song, ‘Caller Herrin’,’ Miss El Clare; banjo solo, Mr Desmond Neilson; song. Miss Marv Somerville; recitation. Miss Leonbre Mackenzie; song, ‘lt’s a’ Roon the Toon,’ Mr J. Paterson. The accompaniments were played by Mr Pettitt.
