COMMUNITY SINGS.
TO THK EDITOR. Sir,-—Please allow me a few lines to ask whether we are going to have our usual community sings this winter. I have listened in night after night for this last two months from Australia, and it seems to mo that community singing is the public’s favourite pastime in that country, and is broadcasted from the main stations. When are we going to make a start in Dunedin ? Surely we are not waiting for Mr Brown, in Christchurch, to give us the lead.' I am sure that Mr Desmoulins, our most devoted and talented friend, is not waiting. We hear him over the air from 4YA, or, rather, his select quartet; but we like him better in person or in front of the footlights. The worst is not past yet; there are hundreds in this proud city of ours that are still at starvation’s door, and the sooner we start on our weekly com-' .inanity sings the better. I also hope that we shall still have the services of our most esteemed friend Mr Pettit, whom I am certain Air Desmoulins could not do without. —I am, etc., Interested. May 15.
