SPRING
The earth, once bare and brown, Is green to-da.v, For who but gentle Spring Has passed tins way. Site touched each tiny seedling As she passed, And through the ground Carhe little blades of grass. Then, as through the garden She did gently trip, She touched each flower With fingertip. And as the flowers Sprang into bloom, Sprayed each of them With sweet perfume. Blythly tripping on her way She comes across a tree All sweet with fragrant blossom. May! A beauteous sight to see, And songbirds there did gaily sing Welcome, welcome, Lady Spring! —Winifred Sharp.
