INTERPROVINCIAL ROWING
ARRANGEMENTS FOR CONTEST ROWING ASSOCIATION'S MEETING Further administrative arrangements for -the interprovincial eight-oar contest on Easter Saturday were completed at a special meeting^of the Otago Rowing Association last night. The draw for places in the _interprovincial race resulted; —Wellington 1 (outside), Otago 2, Canterbury 3, Southland 4, Auckland 5, Wanganui 6, East Coast 7 (inshore). The draw for places for the interumversity race resulted: —Auckland 1. Otago 2, Wellington 3, Canterbury 4. It was decided to commence the in* terprovincinl race at 10, the interuniversity race at 11, and the North v. South Island contest at noon. Mr W. S. Glengarry was appointed umpire for the interprovincial race, in place of Mr W. J. Wilson, who advised the association that owing to pressure of work at Easter ho would be unable to officiate. Advice that it would not bo participating in the intorprovincial contest this year was received from the Marlborough flowing Association, which wrote regretting that the province would not be represented, and wishing the Otago Association every success. lb was reported that the majority of the crews would be arriving on Thursday and on Good Friday. In connection with the stowage of boats. Air S. G. Stycho reported that he had arranged with the Harbour Board to stow the craft in the first concrete shed on the Rattray, street wharf, as it would not bo possible to use the sheds on the Birch street wharf. The harbour master had been asked to provide an official in uniform to keep ilie steamer basin clear of small craft and the Birch street wharf clear of shipping if possible. Arrangements were made to entertain the competing crews at a smoke concert on Easter Saturday night in th Otago Rowing Club’s boat shed, the association members to act as a committee. A sub-committec consisting of .Messrs W. B. Robinson, E. V. Fairbairn, J. Turnbull, and T. Porter was appointed to make tho linal arrangements. Tho Otago Club advised that the committee had granted the association permission to use the boathouse for tho purpose of housing the eight-oar boats for tho intorprovincial race. Tho association had also been granted tho use of the club’s social hall for tho entertainment of visiting oarsmen. The Otago University Club wrote thanking the association for tho use of an eight-oar boat for (he inter-imivor-sity race on Eeastor Saturday, and stating that tho club agreed to tho conditions outlined by the association in connection with the loan of the Jjoat.
